What This Page Is Telling You

Lets look at the page headings:

City tells you the city that the keywords are ranking for. Google no longer lets you rank nationally. Google has become “local” and ranks by city.

Ranking Keywords is the list of keywords that are ranked. CLICK ANY KEYWORD IN THIS COLUMN TO SEE THE ACTUAL GOOGLE SEARCH RESULTS PAGE

Number Of Competing Web Pages is the number of other Web pages containing this keyword in Google’s index. This is important information because:

  • The larger the number of competing Web pages, the tougher it is to get on Page 1
  • The larger the number of competing Web pages, the more traffic that keyword has. Nobody really wants to get a page 1 Google ranking for a keyword that has no traffic associated with it, so they have low competition and little, if any traffic associated with them.

Let’s be realistic. Isn’t sending a lot of traffic to your Website important? You bet it is. If your Website can convert visitors to customers, high traffic is where your business will come from. Keyword ranking is not what gets you customers. It’s the traffic that those high competition keywords sends to your Website that matters most.

  • Page 1 Organic Search Results. This lists the Page 1 Google Organic Search Results for the keyword as of the last SEO process. WHERE you are on Page 1 determines how much traffic you can expect. This chart from Google explains it:

If you have more than 1 position on any Google Search Results page, the percentage of clicks to expect is the SUM of all the positions you hold. For example, if you own the first 5 positions on Google, you share 74% of all the clicks to that search results page. Soa great traffic strategy is to have multiple positions on the SAME Google search results page.

Typically, our clients always have multiple page 1 positions in the top 5 Google organic search results to leverage traffic from that search results page.

  • Video Search Results. Although Google owns YouTube and YouTube is the #2 search engine in the world, these results are for the Google Video Search results, NOT YouTube. They can be seen by clicking either “Videos”or “More” ate the top of any Google Search Results page. Google Video Search Results drive traffic and also cause YouTube to index them. It is common with our customers to see their Google Video Search Results also on YouTube and ranking extremely well
